The NUS MBA Students’ Council is the main student leadership body that comprises of 3 Directorates and 12 Clubs that cater to the professional and social development, as well as general interest of the cohort; Consulting, Energy, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Healthcare, Language & Culture, Marketing, Social Impact, Social & Recreation, Sports, Technology and Women in Business Clubs. Each club is headed by the Club President and Vice President and together, they add value to the MBA experiential learning through various activities and programmes facilitated by the guidance and support of the Graduate Studies Office.

In addition to the Clubs, the function of the Students’ Council is also supported by three Directorates, each headed by a Student Director who oversees the liaison and relationship management of three key stakeholders of the MBA programme. These are the Directorate for Academic Affairs who liaises with the Graduate Studies Office on academic and curriculum matters, Directorate for Career Development & Corporate Outreach who works closely with the School’s Career Services Office for career and professional development matters and finally, the Directorate for Alumni Relations, who promotes student-alumni engagement with the Global Alumni Network Office (GANO).

Together, the NUS MBA Students’ Council aspires to serve the needs of the MBA cohort and to enrich the experience and learnings of the MBA journey with the NUS Business School.

Our mission:
To enrich the NUS MBA experience by fostering a vibrant environment characterized by learning, collaboration and achievement. The NUS MBA Students’ Council is a student-run body that endeavours to bring about a holistic development in every NUS MBA graduate. The Council is headed by the President, the Vice-President and fellow club leaders, who together coin the agenda for student activities during the academic year. Activities encompass both professional and personal development through frequent invitational cocktails, networking nights, cultural events, social activities, workshops, industry visits, alumni and industry engagements.

As the President and the Vice-President of the Council, we primarily involve ourselves in planning the overall events of the student cohort, working very closely with each of the Clubs and Directorates, in managing external student relations of the MBA cohort, acting as the primary liaison for the MBA Office and in ensuring continuous improvements in the Council and the cohort.

With these activities and focus of the Council, we are confident on further sustaining a healthy NUS MBA environment characterized by Learning, Collaboration & Achievement. Please do not hesitate to contact us for any queries that you might have.

Federico III Ng Sandoval, Director

The Director for Academic Affairs works closely with the Graduate Studies Office and faculty members to maintain and improve the quality of the MBA academic programme. The main responsibilities include collecting feedback from MBA students related to the quality of the programme and curriculum, working with the Graduate Studies Office to improve the quality of the course modules, and helping to resolve any academic-related issues.

Alumni Relations Team (ART) promotes engagement and interaction between students and the NUS MBA alumni community. Fundamentally, ART plays the role as the key liaison between the MBA cohort and the Global Alumni Network Office (GANO). ART actively facilitates and supports GANO in the initiatives to strengthen the relations amongst student and alumni through:

Minjae Kang, President

The Directorate of the NUS MBA Career Development & Corporate Outreach acts as the bridge between Career Services Office (CSO) and the MBA cohort. Its main focus is to maintain and improve the network and relations of industry contacts. It also serves to work closely with CSO in planning and organising career and professional development related events for the MBA cohort.

Our Mission:
To build the NUS brand in the consulting world, by enabling our MBA students to build key skills to excel in the consulting recruitment process.

Our Goals:
  1. To provide MBA students with experiential learning and networking activities in the consulting world.
  2. To organise events and activities to help NUS participants prepare effectively for the case interviews.
  3. To partner with the Graduate Studies Office in creating more opportunities for the MBA cohort and in turn, helping to build the NUS MBA brand.

Mission:
  1. To create a platform for the MBA students to build awareness and deepen the understanding of the energy sector.
  2. To create the awareness on the importance of clean energy for a sustainable future.
  3. To foster connections between NUS and the wider community in the energy sector.

The NUS MBA Entrepreneurship Club aims to:
  1. To provide a platform for the MBA cohort who are keen in the areas of entrepreneurship, to engage in discussions and initiatives.
  2. To facilitate the advancement of entrepreneurial skills and mind-set, with a specific focus on Singapore.
  3. To support and to foster entrepreneurial initiatives and start-ups amongst the MBA cohort.
  4. To promote engagement and strengthen relations with the entrepreneurial organisations of NUS such as NUS Enterprise and NUS Entrepreneurship Centre, and to spur interest in entrepreneurship at NUS among the MBA cohort.

Our Mission:
  1. To further the interests of the MBA student and alumni body in the world of finance through workshops, networking events and career talks.
  2. To promote interactions with industry professionals in various areas of finance such as venture capital, investment research, investment banking, private equity, treasury, sales and trading, among others.
We welcome and encourage all MBAs to join the talks and events organised by the NUS MBA Finance Club.

One of the unique qualities of The NUS MBA programme is that the cohort comprises of individuals from a diverse melting pot of cultures and nationalities. This may prove challenging to understanding the various social customs and cultures of each nationality. Enter the NUS MBA Language & Culture Club.

Our Mission:
  1. To provide a platform for all to understand and familiarise with Singapore’s culture and social norms.
  2. To promote integration and cohesiveness amongst the MBA cohort through the understanding of each other’s culture and social customs through various events and workshops such as International Day, Culture Appreciation, basic language courses among others.
  3. To celebrate the diversity of the MBA community by organising festival events such as Diwali, Lunar New Year / Spring Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival etc.

At the NUS MBA Marketing Club, we recognize the power of ‘us’, and are motivated towards creating a potent platform for like minds to connect, share and communicate their thoughts and ideas.

Our approach is energetic, hands-on and fearless. You will often find our MBA peers ready to question, challenge the obvious and passionately voicing their point of view. As such, we encourage our MBA peers to roll up their sleeves and follow a simple 3-step philosophy.

Curiosity helps us explore new opportunities, Criticality ensures our approach is evaluated against the odds, and Creativity fuses our ideas into unique solutions. Our Marketing hang-over terms this as the ‘3Cs’ that define all our activities, actions and alliances.

Through our verticals of Knowledge, Externals and Inclusiveness, we look to empower our MBA cohort with the tools and cross-functional skills to become responsible marketers in this global economic environment. Be it consumer products, business to business or even the media, we strongly believe that here at the NUS MBA Marketing Club, there is room for all beliefs, voices and talents to be unleashed.

Rooted in its core values of Awareness, Sustainability, Education, and Empowerment, the club strives to create events and initiatives that advocate these ideals, in line with the skills and capabilities of aspiring future business leaders. Our Goals:
    1. To provide opportunities for the MBA cohort to make a difference through various volunteer activities / programmes and organisations to make a lasting impact on society.
    2. To encourage the MBA cohort to practice its business skills and interests in a way that ignites positive change by developing projects and activities that promote links between business and social development.

      1. Fun: Fun is the key essence of all activities and events planned by the NUS MBA Sports Club.
      2. Foster Relationships: To build strong bonds and relationships internally within our NUS MBA community, and externally with the MBAs from other Business Schools and corporate partners, through our sports events.

Our Mission:
To provide a forum for the MBAs to learn about major technology trends, share their knowledge and help each other in building a career in technology. The scope is broad and encompasses various industries (e.g. IT, infrastructure, technology in finance, environment) and functions (e.g. digital marketing, business development, strategy). The club aims to achieve this mission through a variety of activities and programmes such as:
        1. Brown Bag lunches with industry experts to develop an understanding of the available roles and opportunities for MBAs in the technology sector.
        2. Industry and expert speaker series, promoting how the application of the right technology to business ensures value creation to the client in today’s world.
        3. Networking events with MBAs in similar clubs from other business schools in Singapore.
        4. Technology-related competitions such as hackathons.
        5. Workshops to develop new skills related to the technology sector.
        6. Establishing a one-stop knowledge centre to address issues such as internship experiences, job search, alumni contacts and information related to technology in the business school.

Founded in 2012, the NUS MBA Women in Business Club is dedicated to build an inclusive community that supports and enables women to reach their full potential in their career and professional development. By leveraging on the prowess and dexterity of female leaders in the industry and corporate world, the club is committed to providing meaningful avenues and opportunities for impactful learning and professional networking amongst the MBA cohort and the business leaders of the fairer sex.
In many ways the NUS MBA was a journey of self-discovery and one after which I have come out stronger and ready to restart my career in earnest.
