BUSINESS CASE COMPETITIONS –
PIT YOURSELF AGAINST OTHERS

One of the distinct benefits of participation in case competitions is that it offers opportunities for the MBAs to hone their leadership skills, as well as to demonstrate the mastery and application of their knowledge and business principles to real-life business challenges. Additionally, MBAs will get to network among their peers from other top business schools around the world as well as business leaders from leading global organisations.

Here at the NUS Business School, with the objective of ensuring the continuous development of our students even out of the classroom, we offer many opportunities for our MBAs to engage in active and robust intellectual exchanges through participation in a wide variety of case competitions in the region as well as overseas. The MBA Teams are mentored by faculty members of the School who are seasoned coaches for case competitions. Below is a glimpse of some of the competitions that our NUS MBAs actively participate in.

CEREBRATION

Cerebration is a global business challenge organised annually by students from the NUS MBA programme. At the heart of the competition are real life case studies of leading Asian companies that are focused on international expansion. These cases profile strategic, operational, manpower and financial aspects of companies and look to give the participating teams a comprehensive understanding of these organisations and how they do business globally and in Asia. On average, more than 100 business schools and 600 teams from over 24 countries submit their entries each year and the finalists gets to present their business plans before a panel of distinguished judges.

The Venture Capital Investment Competition® began in the middle of the technology bubble in 1998 as an educational event for MBAs to learn about venture funding. Now in its 18th year, through good times and bad in the venture industry, VCIC® has evolved into a marketplace for entrepreneurs seeking investors and a training ground for future venture capitalists.

The competition is first held at the regional level whereby champions from these regional competitions travel to Chapel Hill, NC, to compete in the Global Finals, where the top team takes home USD$5,000 in prize money.
